Powering Echo in bathroom

I've got an old Echo Dot that I'd like to put in the bathroom but how do I power it?

There is a strip light with built in shaver point but I need to get 5v somehow to power the Echo. Is there a shaver adapter I could buy? Do I have to plug in the adapter outside the bathroom and extend the output wire to it? Will it run off batteries? Any other ideas?

Thanks.

You can buy battery bases that fit under the units, you just need to check compatibility with your model generation - we use them in the garden in summer, but the rechargeable batteries only last for a couple of hours so we normally end up just using our phones!

Don't use it to plug anything powerful to your shaver point.

OP has a shaver light currently so https://www.mlaccessories.co.uk/product/3624644/230v-ip20-6w-led-shaver-light-with-dual-usb-charger-white would likely be better ?

Other makes are no doubt available nowadays.

EU 2 pin plugs are not the same design or spacing as a "shaver" socket and you could damage the plug and/or socket trying to push one in.

You can now get those strip light fittings with a usb socket built in as well as the shaver socket.

I've done the same in my bathroom. I've got a celing mount for the echo dot and ran the wire up into the loft. From there, I ran a socket from the lighting circuit to connect the echo to (I've clearly labelled the socket to make it clear it's on the lighting circuit).

Thanks for thanks for the suggestions. I might try a powerbank temporarily but I don't think the charge will last long if the echo isn't unplugged each time. Then it means powering up each time it's needed.

I like the idea of the Pipestation socket to usb adapter if it will fit the socket without damaging it as it's a lot smaller than having a 3 pin adapter and the echo adapter. I guess I could put a socket in the loft, there is a junction box up there for the loft lighting and outside light.

The bathroom is on my to do list so ultimately those shaver lights with a usb socket would seem the perfect solution.

    Many thanks.
