Hi,this is from your first photies, this is from 2 mins into video link, looks the same to me,showing push up from bottom to remove outer cover then remove catch. You can do that now, will give you a better look at part needed before you order. You can then replace it if you wish.1

Ah yes, you’re right! I did manage to do that. Here are a couple of photos.
However a piece dropped down into into the cavity while I was pulling it out. From looking at the photo on the parts website it must be the piece of black plastic and the spring!! Which presumably are what had been knocked out of place by me in the first place when I poked a knife around in there some time ago when I broke it.Hopefully these parts being loose in the body doesn’t matter much? As I can’t see an easy way to now retrieve them.1 -
For reference stock photo showing the black plastic and the spring that fell down:

Hi,good, well done,
.
So you know what's needed now and how to fix it.Don't worry about the fallen bits, probably lying on the floor, you might be able to scoop them out from under machine.

The machine is running now with a full load and the door stays closed!
Thanks again for your help - can’t believe it took me 18 months to get it fixed but glad I asked here instead of paying £160 for a Beko repair!!2 -
Hi,good for you, glad you're sorted. So, don't go poking about with a knife, unless you know what or where you're poking.1
