Storage Heaters - all 3 failed - no heating - cause & how to repair?

Hi all,

Just coming back to report that the heating has now been fixed and storage heaters working once again, thanks to an AMAZING electrician.  It turned out there was an intermittent fault on the the main isolating switch on the separate consumer board for Economy 7.  I don't understand the gadgetry (!) but basically he used something which "buzzed" and he tested all the points in the consumer unit.  Initially could find nothing wrong but perseverance paid off to show this was an intermittent fault. It wasn't easy to diagnose and definitely beyond our capabilities.  

Pic below of the part that was replaced - in case anyone else has a similar issue.

This particular part apparently isn't readily available but luckily he was able to find one and replace.  Since then has been working fine, so cosy again!

So not a meter fault as it turns out.

Glad you got it sorted.
Tricky one when something like that is intermittent.
It’s not as though it tripped and stayed up as previously mentioned.

Great result, thanks for coming back.  Many years ago I had a similar fault on a clients consumer unit, it was caused by dust and fine grit getting into the isolator probably caused by the banging upstairs as we were working up there.
