anyvan removals

Has anyone used them? I got a ridiculously low quote for a man + a van (cheaper than hiring a van myself) and... if it looks too god to be true it usually is!

Awful and would never use them again. They subcontract the whole house moves and it's pot luck who you get. They charged me £1400 and the guys doing the job were paid £350. One was off his face. They weren't Covid safe (this was March 2021) the truck was probably not legal and they were ridiculously slow. 4 hours to load what was going in to a 2 bed flat. They had no trolleys, no blankets and the fact they only broke 2 items seemed a miracle.

For shifting part loads through their own network they're brilliant. House moves absolutely not.

Google anyvan uk reviews.  Will give you an idea.  The problem is with any site that puts forward other companies for a removal.., they could be anyone.  Good or bad, you don't really know.  You can google individual removal companies as well though.

I did it once, never will again.  In spite of organising the items to be moved.., the van was too small, the people loading and unloading didn't have a clue.

Funnily enough we used them at the weekend to move a patio bar that we had bought from a garden centre. Booked them at 3pm on the Saturday and the bar was gracing our patio by 10am Sunday morning.

Couldn't fault the service. They were fast, efficient and excellent value for money.

I gave up on anyvan years ago as they were useless and very expensive !  I always use Shiply now for moving vehicles and large items ( they do house moves too ).

They are just a broker website, you put the details of your delivery on there and people put bids in to do the job.  You can check the individual feedback for the bidders and then pick the one you like best. I have moved over 50 vehicles with them all over the country over the past few years, and never had a problem once.

Not doing a full house move, just half a dozen items. 50 odd miles. Local man+vans are around £220, Anyvan quoted £68. I believe it might be (partly) because they only charge one way then get another job for the return?

That's how I remember them working from a decade ago, but assumed this was a different company as now after entering the job details you just get a price.

No info on who will do it, or their feedback and no option to pick the one you like best.

Are there 2 'anyvan' companies operating differently?

I was talking about Shiply, they are the ones where people bid and you can see the actual people who will be moving its feedback

They can often do good prices as you will get quotes from local delivery people, or ones who can put your load on with other loads if there is room

Used AnyVan a few years ago for a few bulky Gumtree purchases and I echo the comments about not recommending them. I was getting stuff from a somewhat rural location however and they were the only people who would quote. Slow, expensive, and they don't treat your stuff with care in my experience.

    Totally agree with this.

I moved house with them gave a brief estimated inventory of what's included (one-bed flat). I thought i was booking the van+men for a period of time, but they price by the item. Anything I hadn't specifically listed had to be paid in cash, and ended up being very expensive.

I've used them since for moving specific items, and for this they were very good.

As mentioned in initial replies, Anyvan outsource and act as an agent only. The contractors that moved us were awful.

They priced item by item and claimed x items as a max. We had some sofa cushions and they then include each cushion as an item and demanded cash.

We didn't see until they were offloading, but they laid a brand new (in the original box as I purchased it on a black Friday special ahead of the move) TV, flat in their van and proceeded to place a coffee table on top of the TV and put heavy items on top of the table. This resulted in the table piercing the box and damaging the brand new TV. Even though the damage was purely due to neglect as the TV box specifically told them (although they should know), to always keep the box upright, we had to go through a dispute process which resulted in AnyVan agreeing liability, with a maximum payout of £100, which is their maximum compensation per item (as you can imagine, £100 goes a long way to covering for the loss of a £1,400 TV.

I would never use them again for a house move!
