Asda refund problem

Used my paypal to make a payment on behalf of my mother for some clothes from Asda.
Product was delivered but they ended up mistakenly and without solicitation refunding it.
Trying to pay this back is proving awkward. It's taken weeks for them to even respond correctly.
They say they tried to issue a 'chargeback' via paypal. I asked paypal how this would be possible and was told it wasn't so I told Asda who don't seem to have listened and went ahead with it (if i understand their email correctly). The chargeback didn't work now they want me to reply sending them my debit card/bank details. I am not remotely comfortable with this. What shoudl I do? I have asked them for payment options/invoice so I can just paypal the money or make a payment but they have said that's not possible. Thanks

I don't see a reason for you to be more bothered about this than they seem to be. I would forget about it until such time as they suggest a payment method which suits you.1

Just tell them you are not prepared to make an unsecure payment or send card details via email. They shouldn't be asking for that anyway and it might well be against data protection rules.
Just make sure you make it clear you are happy to pay via a secure method once they are able to provide it. Then stop chasing them and leave the ball in their court.2 -
Asda need to send you a paypal invoice to pay. But problem is they might not have the facility to do that.
Other option pop in store & pay. So long as they make store aware you are coming in.Life in the slow lane0 -

Could you not simply send them a cheque ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I had a similar issue last year. I also had ordered Asda clothes online (and live nowhere near a store). Some of the items were out of stock so they sent what they had, and refunded part of the payment. Then, a few days later they refunded the entire payment. So, in all they refunded more than I paid and I still had half the clothing.I tried in vain to pay, and ultimately gave up. They could not understand what I was ‘complaining’ about. I never once put it as a complaint but suspect they simply don’t read the messages in full nor really listened to me on the phone.0

I've sent an email asking for an alternative to me sending my account details. Can't do more0 -
Politely tell them to provide you with details of an Asda account that you can transfer the money into because you are not prepared to pay them via an insecure method, and you aren't going to provide your card details in an email. Also ask for a payment reference that you can give so that they can identify your payment.
Also make it clear that you are not refusing to pay and that it's their error - not yours - that has led to this problem. And if it was you that alerted them to the error, rather than them telling you, point that out too.
I had a problem with an online purchase from a major high street retailer last year. I got a refund but then they refunded me a second time. I emailed them and said "I think you've refunded me twice" and they replied that there was nothing they could do about it!0 -
If Asda overcharged me then I would want my money back, but normally it's me that would have to do the running around to get that money.
So if they have undercharged me, then I report it and offer to pay back, but then let them do the running around to claim it back, if payment wasn't taken at the time I reported it.
Let's Be Careful Out There0 -
Offer to pay them by bank transfer they just send you their details you use a reference with the payment to tell them.
If they refuse, but they probably wont, then just forget about it.0
