Postal parking charge notice from UKPS (IPC member); car leased from ŠKODA Financial Services (SFS)

Hello

I've reviewed all the info. for newbies and I'm a little confused about what is directly relevant for drivers of leased cars.
  1. The incident date was 14/01/2023;
  2. My wife (lessee) was issued a notice on 02/02/2023, after SFS named her, and she subsequently named me as the driver;
  3. I received a notice on 09/02/2023.
Have we screwed up by either naming me as the driver or not doing something by 23/02/2023, 14 days after I received a notice.

What's my best course of action from here?

Any advice is gratefully received 🙏❤️

    Yep, mistake to name you as the driver; that was very silly because it might have been winnable for the hirer at IAS.  She wasn't liable in law but she's named the person who is.  Oh dear.

    To look reasonable later if it goes to court, respond once with your dispute then ignore debt demands (KEEP every letter though) and wait for a LBC or court claim.

    LBC = Letter Before Claim?

    That's correct.
    Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

    I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    I didn't respond with my dispute and have subsequently received two debt demands.

    As I was a tit and didn't post here BEFORE my wife responded I think I've made it very difficult for myself if it does go to court (is that likely?) and am inclined to pay the £160 as an 'education' expense.

    Expensive lesson, but learned now. Thanks for your help.

    Why would you pay £160 to a debt collector that has no clout what so ever, and you don't have a debt.
    What exactly is the invoice for anyway?

    Debt collectors are powerless and can safely be ignored.

    If the person named as the driver denies being the driver, (but only if true) or fails to respond, the charge will (should) revert to the hirer/lessee who can then deal with it.
    If it should ever get to court the hirer/lessee will say they were not the driver, and they cannot be held liable because the PPC has failed to comply with the strict requirements of the PoFA paras 13 and 14.

    No, you do NOT pay this.

    I guess you merely have a couple of begging letters from DCB Ltd?  No-one pays them.  Please don't do this. You are NOT at risk.

    When you get a court claim and defend it with our help, regardless of facts or how strong the defence position is (or isn't) DCBLegal discontinue before hearings!  YOU WILL PAY NOTHING.

    Yes, from DCB Ltd.
    Your confidence is inspiring, thank you 🙏❤️
    They make it seem clear that you'll be sent to debtors prison! :D
    I won't do anything until I get a LBC.
    Thanks again.

    If by "discontinue" you mean throw in the towel because their bullying silly letters that amount to nothing didn't work and they got nothing, yes.
