Want to move Broadband for better deal but also hoping to move house soon

I would like to get away from Virgin Media Broadband and phone for a number of reasons but also to get a better deal. The problem is I am hoping to move home in the next few months maybe so I don't know what problems I would have if I took out a 12 month or longer contract. Does anybody know where I would stand? I'm worried that I would have to pay up the full period if I left them. Are there providers who would simply move the contract to my new address? Thanks

Well if you can't get Virgin at the new house it shouldn't (in theory) cost you anything - previously it would be early exit fees - although still occasional cases of that happening but...

Same with other providers - depends if they can supply the new house or not.  If you move to Kingston upon Hull from, well anywhere basically, for example, KCOM is the only supplier in town.  Nobody else would be able to supply you.  Though there may start to be some movement in that area I understand.

Better to go onto a 30 day minimum term until you move, in case you choose a property that won't support the new supplier (e.g. Persimmon new builds where  they have their own provider "Fibrenest" and openreach can't get in until the roads are adopted, which might take a year or more).
