Smart meters purpose?

For future reference (Source: Octopus Energy Smart Meter Reading Guide). L&G has a number of SMETS2 meter models all annotated E470.




Smart meters have 4 index registers. Any reading shown on the IHD is the total of all the 4 registers that have been used since the meter was first installed.

How do i get the reading on the meter?

It is showing the reading, 1768.

  I was thinking of my meter as it shows amount remaining.

So it failed soon after the install on 3.3.22, Its 1 day off being exactly 12 months old, so 4.8kwh a day.
