I've started to write "RTS" on a lot of their mail
Though I've received the odd one where there's no return address anywhere on the envelope. How do I deal with that?
I don't know their new address either, so it's not like I could just stick a label on it and send it that way

It looks like RM have the power to open said mail to find an actual return address0 -

There's nothing illegal about opening someone else's mail once RM have correctly delivered it. Ifit was addressed to your address, then it is no longer 'in the mail' and subject to the legislation.5 -
The bin is the best place for it if it has been longer than 6 months.1

Hi OP
Just cross out the address, your address and RTS. RM will sort it out.
If they are letters from debt collectors, I peronally go the extra mile and call/email them and give them their new addresses.

& on your 2nd point the OP has said they don't have a forwarding address for the previous occupants. rtft
OP you can only do what you can, it sounds like you have made more than enough efforts, I hope its not too much in quantity. The previous owners of my house (& the one before also) take the biscuit.- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

I'm really lucky that my old address post lady stands next to her husband at the sorting office, and he is now my postman. I've received a few circulars lately that she has kindly 'forwarded'.£216 saved 24 October 20142

So, I thought instead of giving it to the neighbours so to speak, it's best to just RTS any that come. It does seem that most letters that arrive, arrive for the previous owners.
I rarely get any actual letters for myself. I'll just RTS the lot, and let RM deal with it0 -

I'm not sure if it is a rhetorical question but here it goes. As I stated and you quoted my posted IE what I would do. As for your question what the RM would do, TBH, why should I care, I'm not being paid to handle mail, there it is up to them

We’ve had a lot of Tax office collection letters for the previous occupant - they left over 2 years ago so they just get binned.2006 LBM £28,000+ in debt.
