Barclays Bank Joint Account Application Refused with credit score over 950?

Barclays are a waste of time. They refused to give me an overdraft of £500 when I earn nearly 60k. Read the two threads over the last few days, they are total hassle. A strange bank! I can second RBS. Why not sign up to Drummonds or Child and Co and get a fancy card along with the account. Barclays have no commitment to retail banking based on my experience.1

It's their loss and Nationwides gain. Barclays do seem to be a very strange bank based on recent thread

Both of us are Premier accounts holders with the same bank for more than 10 years. Checked our credit scores and both are 900+. Chat with Barclays and the same excuse about our credit commitments, we always pay our credit card each month, no mortgage. Don't have a car loan or anything, so what commitment. Shall I go to the branch or just try another bank?
If I understood correctly, both OP and husband and are already Barclays (And Premier) customers, so I found it strange that they would not get a joint account (my historic banking is also with Barclays as is my wife’s and we also later opened a Joint account without fuss, albeit we only use it for Mortgage DD). Also, as an existing customer, I would expect perhaps an overdraft facility not been offered/approved but not an account altogether, even if there is something not right with one credit history/profile0
