10 hours a day doing what? The answer is very different if thats 10 hours walking about outside in all weathers -v- sitting at a desk.Sncjw said:
I noticed today on way home from work that my 15 month old docs marten boots are cracking and there's soon to be a hole in them on the top..
I wear them for work so 5 days a week least 10 hours of the day for say ,50 weeks of the year.
Would you say that this is just normal wear and tear and suck it up and buy a new pair.
Leather is much more susceptible to damage whilst its damp/wet, which includes just the natural dampness of just having your feet in them. Many would recommend not wearing shoes/boots 2 days in a row and potentially longer if they've gotten very wet in rain etc.0 -
Hi OP
How long is the warranty and did you following the instruction for the care of your boots?

The Asda boots didn't last two days as it collapsed at the heel. Just from normal walkingPollycat said:Dr Marten used to do safety boots (with steel toecaps), I don't know if they still do.
If you are working in an industrial environment, maybe those would be better.
Did you wear your Asda chelsea boots in the same way?

I have the Chelsea boot style with back stiching.jon81uk said:If they are the standard 1460 and worn in wet weather or standing/moving a lot (not just for desk work) then five days a week for 15 months seems fair.Mortgage free wannabe

But its predominately a desk based job and public transport is just to and from work not something you're doing 20 times a day.Sncjw said:

In which case I'd say 15 months is low. I have 3 pairs of work shoes that I wear in rotation and occasionally at a weekend and they were all bought in 2011 so circa 12 years old; so effective 4 years of use each. One or two have been resoled but thats it. Just never wear them two days in a row or when they've gotten wet, use shoe trees most the time to keep them flat, always let them dry naturally (dont use heat) and clean them with decent products once every 6 months or so (just a brush down or buff occasionally between cleans)0
