Do you have to drive a certain distance to recalibrate after any changes? That's how it works in my Volvo.

Just checking that you’re resetting the TPMS after checking and/or inflating the tyres, AND are hitting the button when parked on a dead level roadway.  Even slight slopes make the TPMS more likely to report a change in pressure.  The alarm almost always goes off after a couple of miles, not on the drive.
The only time I ever press the TPMS reset button is after inflating the tyres, as per the owners manual, and I've had no problems up until recently.

All I know is each time you inflate any tyres you press the TPMS button - after that I don't know what the system does.

Not sure whether to consult Mazda or not ? They will charge loads I'd assume just to even look at it. I have asked on some Mazda forums but people tend to say that it can happen but there is no real solution.

TPMSs are rubbish.  All mine leak constantly and give odd readings, especially in the cold.

There's nothing to leak in this system, no special valves. It just compares the speed of the wheels, flat tyres go round faster than inflated ones.

Presumably it must monitor over a significant distance though, otherwise going round a bend (say one of those almost 360 degrees motorway slip roads) could set it off? So that would suggest that it is detecting one wheel moving faster than the other for quite a period of time. No idea what would cause that though.

We had an indirect system on a Honda.  I found that running the tyres a little bit harder (running the tyres closer to the 'fully loaded' figures) hugely reduced the false alarms.

Yes, that is why I asked earlier about that. With my car you press the button to recalibrate the system and then you drive until it says it's done, which can be a few miles.

I had a similar issue on a BMW 3 series, BMW wanted to change the drive shaft.(Nothing wrong with the driveshaft) On the drive shaft is a serrated metal strip, the sensor measures the wheel speed from this strip. This strip gets dirt underneath it which pushes it closer to the sensor which makes it "think" the wheel is travelling faster. The fix was remove the sensor (1Allen screw) put a thin washer under the bracket and refit. About 15 minutes.
Don't know if Mazda is the same but it's worth a look.
Sorry no pictures as I no longer have the car.

@venomx have you had any ABS warnings and are the sensors in good condition ?

@diystarter7 there aren't any sensors in the wheels which could be affected by changing tyres, the system uses the ABS system.

    Hi

    Thanks

I assumed that all cars used the pressure inside the tyre to measure, like our cars, Mercs and  other marques. This must be the chear version of the TPMS on the Mazda's
    What a condescending reply!

Most Mercs before 2014 were fitted with the ABS TPMS. In fact many still are in different markets.

Came on again today at the same place as before.
Light hadn't come on for a couple of weeks, then this morning I went down the A Road I went down before, lo and behold the light came on, same as last time.
Got to a roundabout, turned off the tpms light then it stayed off for the remainder of my journey

So driving round town seems no issues  but if I go on long A-roads or motorway then the light comes on. Strange .

Is it worth mentioning to mazda or would they charge me loads and then fob me off ?
