TUI Gold hotels are history

In more recent times the selection of TUI Gold hotels has been on the decrease - now they are no longer available.
Not everybody's scenario - but they were relatively popular within a certain demographic appeal - including us veterans !!!
They appear to have been rebranded Tui Blue For Two - still adults only bookings.
I also heard that TUI have pulled their in house entertainment team staff - now provided by the hotel.

The Gold portfolio had been diminishing for some time with many moving across to the newer "Platinum" brand or the newest "TUI Blue" as you say.
They're just branding exercises anyway.0 -
Dropping their entertainment teams is sending a message.

Or it could be responding to a message from their customer base that hotel based entertainment is not a priority when choosing their holiday.NoodleDoodleMan said:Dropping their entertainment teams is sending a message.0 -
Anytime we've ventured into the guest act visits they've been very well attended.More like TUI on a cost cutting campaign.0

I'm sure there will be an element of TUI cost cutting. If guests/hotel acts are well attended then why would TUI bother providing it themselves when the hotel can likely do it cheaper?NoodleDoodleMan said:Anytime we've ventured into the guest act visits they've been very well attended.More like TUI on a cost cutting campaign.
I don't think the competition don't have their own entertainment teams.0 -
TUI had a bunch of decent acts on contract that did the Gold circuit tailored to suit British guests, whereas some of the hotel provided entertainment we've experienced has been poor.

I'm not questioning the quality of the entertainment TUI provided or even whether guests enjoyed it, many like yourself will have done. I just think that maybe the market and customer expectations do change over time. If TUI are cutting back on their own entertainment teams and provision then it will be a business decision they've taken. Easy to call it cost cutting, but if there'll have been a cost/benefit analysis.NoodleDoodleMan said:TUI had a bunch of decent acts on contract that did the Gold circuit tailored to suit British guests, whereas some of the hotel provided entertainment we've experienced has been poor.

Cost cutting by any other name.

Always liked a 'Gold' hotel. Been to a few over the years.
We were a bit young for their main demographic, but having no kids ourselves, put us firmly back in!!
Never really watched the entertainment, TBH.
Coronas Playa, Lanzarote was a favourite. Biggest standard rooms I've ever seen!!
Anyone else remember Naty? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1
