Severn Trent water will

Options
My latest bill to start in April 23 is going to be over £510 a year.
Is this normal. I'm not on a metre and live in a 2 bed flat in Birmingham.
Severn Trent say the bill is set on the rateable value of my property which is nothing more than 75k. I'd hate to think how much someone is paying on a much better home.
Any tips on what I should do please?

Have you had a look at STW calculator as to what you might pay on a meter ?

I called them yesterday, they said if I use a bath 5 times a week and the washing machine 3 times a week I'd pay more on a meter! It's laughable really who could keep to doing that?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of getting their rateable value looked at and changed as STW say that is the issue.

I'm with STWA  -  2 person, washing machine, dishwasher, showers, baths,  garden - paying £28 month

From www "You can trial a water meter for two years. If you feel like a water meter isn’t right for you during that time, you can switch back to unmetered billing."

    Nothing to loose

PS My consumption has dropped every time STWA has produced its 6 monthly statement.

That is really good, may I ask what area you are in please? I'm in B8 , Birmingham, so not exactly the rich part of the city.

The RV is a historic value set way back in 1990, and it cannot be altered.
If you are living alone is a 2 /b/r flat, you will almost certainly pay less with a meter. If the flat cannot be metered, as is often the case with flats, then you can request assessed billing, which is always less than RV billing.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
