Does your DS do what mine does & he is so much older than a teenager.  You think you are having a conversation but he is nearer his personal exit, in our case the stairs which go up from the living room.  He edges nearer the stairs & then I realise he has one foot on step one & the other on step 2.  I have got so use to this now after over 20 years that I just laugh & say go on get out of here.  Don't get me started on the walking 20 paces ahead if you are out in public.  He doesn't do that now as his doddery old mum might need him there to catch her.
  • Hi M&O, long time lurker, first time poster.  Just got the courage to do a diary and post on others!  Yours is a diary I always look out for and always read.  I just wanted to say how well I think you are doing.  The love for your family is obvious and I'm sorry things aren't always easy for you. You seem so selfless and always put everyone else before yourself, I just wanted to say I'm cheering you on from the sidelines.  Hope you have a lovely Christmas.

I don’t think my DS is listening half the time anyway, badmemory! I love him dearly but I do so miss the days of him being my best buddy and wanting to do everything with me.

Hello and thank you so much for your lovely post justcrackingonwithit. I’ve had a bit of an emotionally draining afternoon for one reason or another and have been questioning my parenting skills, so your post brought a tear to my eye.
Glad you’ve found the courage to start a diary, it really has helped me over the years. I’ll try and find yours now and follow your journey, it’s always great to have an extra cheerleader! X

The vinted buyer must be reading my diary as they collected the parcel and confirmed it was ok within minutes of my last post! I’m chuffed to have that bit of extra cash on the way.

My payslip for this month has been uploaded online so I can now see what I will be paid after the small pay rise I had. It works out to be an extra £71.91 per month, so it won’t make me rich but I’m grateful for it. I hope it doesn’t adversely affect my UC’s too much, I’ll have to wait until January to see how much it will do so.

My next jab has been approved and will be on the way shortly. I also received another £50 off the provider I have been using thus far after cancelling due to the increasing cost. I may use that to get the following month’s pen if I decide to continue.

DS is having fresh sausage pasta for tea. I haven’t eaten much today as I’m trying to let my stomach settle a bit after the past few days, but will have a little bit of pasta with DS. I’ve taken a big portion of YS salmon out of the freezer for tomorrow night so will do something light but tasty with that.

  • Ahhh glad my post helped, honestly I find your diary inspirational. One thing that always amazes me is how much you donate to charity, you must be very ruthless!  I really need to take a leaf out of your book, I've got lots of clothes, albeit second hand and from charity shops, I never buy anything new, but I never donate anything back either!  Glad your vinted buyer has picked up.  I had a very unhealth vinted habit last year, I've deleted the app so I'm not tempted!!

@Justcrackingonwithit - I've never been able to live with clutter but now that we have a much smaller and no spare room other than the box room I work in, I have to be ruthless! I do try and sell the clothes of higher value on vinted and then I always aim to pay those small amounts off the mortgage or credit card if there's a balance on it. I see it as money I wouldn't have had anyway so won't miss it and it's another little bit towards whatever the goal is. If they don't sell after so long, they go to the charity shop. I do the same with books on ziffit but if they're offering peanuts I'd rather give them to charity and let them benefit.
My experiences with buying things from Vinted haven't been that great so I'm not overly tempted by that one. I did buy two Christmas jumpers this year from there though, one of which I'm wearing now!

I was sad to see DS go to school today; we'd had a lovely fun morning of making paper planes and larking about in between getting ready for school. He even climbed in my bed for a cuddle when he woke up early this morning.  <3 He'll be with his Dad for a few days now and I will miss him.

I'm going to try and pick up the last of the grocery shopping pre-Christmas tomorrow, perhaps early morning to avoid the crowds. There's no Christmas dinner being cooked here so I won't need much fresh stuff. My Sister, her partner and my brother are now going to spend Christmas Day with my parents so I'm really relieved they won't be on their own and will have a Christmas Dinner with company. I just wish we were there too. :(

The vinted funds have hit my bank account this morning. I'm going to leave it in there for now until I've paid for the groceries needed as funds are quite low presently. Any leftover will go towards clearing the CC this month.

I now have carrots, parsnips, potatoes, a swede and a bag of sprouts for the grand sum of 75p thanks to a quick dash to Sainsbos. If only they were that price all year round. I also picked up some part baked bread rolls, some snacks for DS and some milk. I'm considering going shopping early tomorrow morning just to get it out of the way and before it gets too busy everywhere.

I know a few people who stock up, prep and freeze while the veg is this cheap each year
