Travel Insurance with Best Customer Service (for claims)??? - recommendations please!

Hello to everyone,
I need to buy travel insurance which covers the US. Not having needed travel insurance for a long time, I can't seem to find a company which is rated good or excellent when it's time to contact them in case of claims or settling claims (not just rated excellent for the ease of buying a policy).
Maybe i'm over thinking but I can't think anything worse than needing to contact the company abroad and not being able to get through. I'm over 50 in good health and no existing medical conditions, so finding cover should not be a problem.  I would like to avoid the cheapest with worst customer service! So looking for the equivalent of First Direct bank of travel insurance - if that makes sense.

There was a similar thread last month relating to the difficulties of sourcing data about claiming rather than purchasing:

Thank you, I hadn't seen that.
Got a quote from M&S which was around £175 (annual multi-trip, worldwide inc US). After some comparisons, in the end went with Admiral Platinum at £90.

    M&S = Aviva UK

Admiral Travel = Admiral Insurance Gibraltar

At least they are passing on the savings for being in a lighter regulatory environment.

Have to say the last travel claim I had was with Barclays (also Aviva behind the scenes). It was an online form which was simple enough to complete and within a very short time after submitting the claim it sent an email to advise settlement had been sent to my bank account. In fairness it was a nominal claim for delay and so easy for a system to confirm how late the flight was and then calculate it at £50/12hrs/person.
