New prices in April
Apologies for previous incorrect post, I'd copied and pasted it from another forum.
Basically what I'm trying to work out is;
For both gas and electric what is the daily standing charge now and what is it increasing to?
What is the current price per kWh/unit now and what is it increasing to?
I'm disabled and not quite with it at the moment, struggling to work things out and find information, so yes I could add my thoughts to another thread/discussion or search, but I'm struggling

MSE's news story on yesterday's announcement is here:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2023/02/energy-price-cap-to-fall-in-april---yet-bills-will-still-rise-20/
The precise figures will depend on which region you live in, and whether you are a direct debit or prepayment customer - there isn't a single standing charge and unit price figure for the whole country.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1 -
I need the information as simple as possible otherwise I can't understand itMSE_James said:MSE's news story on yesterday's announcement is here:

The per-unit prices from 1 April are not yet known - once Ofgem announces the headline figure it takes a while for all the number-crunching to happen to arrive at the figures for different regions and payment methods.
But when the numbers are known to that level of detail, this page on the MSE site will be updated to include them:

just to add to what james has said.
if you can tell us your region and then wait until maybe friday then we can give you the simple answer. the new price doesnt' come into it until april so hopefully while its stresful to wait thats okay.
if you no how much gas and electric you use each year in kwh and if you are on a single rate or e7/differnt tarrif (should be on your account somewhere as 'forecast use') then we can also tell you roughly what it means in £Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

I can wait until Friday0

I would suggest if you want a gauge quickly the you can only use a guess and maybe take the current rate and times by 20% but for the standing charge don’t change.
I hope that then SC remains at worst flat or comes down.
The big unknown here is the up coming budget as I am pretty sure he has to do something and as prices are falling and tax receipts better than forecast he will help in some way, be that the blanket coverage by not increasing the price cap from 2500 or More targeted help for those on specific benefits, albeit the continued support on the cost of living payments was announced in November.

Ofgem press release includes the new average standing charges - and you can look at their detailed tables to get regional ones.
It took c5 days - but that included a weekend - for govt to update epg unut rate tables and discounts on its main website.
So should know by end of week this time.
But remember those SC increases c7p and c1p on average comparing ofgem press releases - are iirc part of the total EPG price cap.
And for electricity the sc is very regional (c£80 between cheapest and most expensive regions pa)0 -
well its looking hopeful that there thinking about it at least. just read they might change there mind and keep the prices where they are but we might have to wait until the budget on the 15th (tho i these things are normally leaked to the news papers well in advance!!)Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. As a rough guide, I've used the calculator and my electricity is going up from 1,230 to 1,660 annually. That's a 35% increase on the total bill. Even without taking Std Chgs into account, that's a much bigger hike than the 20% being talked about in various circles?MSE_James said:The per-unit prices from 1 April are not yet known - once Ofgem announces the headline figure it takes a while for all the number-crunching to happen to arrive at the figures for different regions and payment methods.
