I had been ignoring letters from ukpc and then their solicitors dcb legal for years
to my surprise a claim form came through the post on 17 feb 2023
I've been going through forums for hours to learn how I can fight these crooks
I've sent the acknowledgement of service form today 27 feb and I have requested SAR from ukpc today and they already sent me all information they had on me within couple of hours .
now I need to file a defence but I dont know how. this is where im stuck . basically I overstayed in a car park . I was there for 2 hours and 53 minutes . I was only allowed 2 hours . now at the time I had no idea there was a time limit and the SAR sent to me by ukpc does not include images of the parking signs . so could I base my defence around the fact that the parking signs were either not there / poorly located / damaged or anything along these lines ???
your help is much appreciated
I wish I just paid the fine back then instead of having to go through all this pain today

Copy from any other UKPC Claim thread. There are at least two today near yours, working on their defence and it is easy. No links. Go look down the thread list and find the ones at your exact stage.
UKPC will almost certainly discontinue before the hearing if you follow our advice. This is so simple copy & paste stuff and a good life experience for you. And you'll win!
What's the DATE OF ISSUE top right of claim?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've sent the acknowledgement of service form today 27 feb...fairsquare said:date of issue is 17 feb 2023With a Claim Issue Date of 17th February, and having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Wednesday 22nd March 2023 to file your Defence.
That's over three weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look at the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Don't miss the deadline for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.2 -

You are in the right place and you have started receiving advice from the experts on here. Follow that advice and read up on the process and the steps involved in the Newbies thread near the top of this forum. It will seem daunting with so much information but you are now in a learning experience which will help defend against these scammers.
Don't even think about paying them. They are going to come back at some stage in this process and try and persuade you to "settle" with them for a "reduced" (not by much) amount. Ignore such scam offers.
99% of victims who follow the advice in the Newbies thread and from the experts on here win their cases or they are discontinued before they ever get to court. 1% lose because they didn't read and understand the Newbies thread or didn't follow the advice given here or just paid up for the easy life.
Which one are you? a 99% or a 1%?2 -

HI
It's good to fight I justice .... however in the beginning the fine is maybe 30 quid .. it is more economical to pay that rather than spending hours learning the law and how to respond to claim form, creating a defence and attending a court hearing .
At this stage paying the fine which is now ballooned to 300 $ is not feasible so I definitely will fight this ; there is no other choice .

Easy enough, especially if it is DCB Legal.
For pretty much all defences involving UKPC / DCBLegal, defendants can adapt the one by @Johny86 which is worth pointing the never-ending queue of UKPC/DCBLegal defendants to, saving us a lot of typing!

The "discount" they offer is just a bribe to persuade victims such as yourself to pay up out of your hard-earned money so that they can carry on scamming more and more victims. Where you say it is "more economical to pay rather than spending hours learning the law... blah, blah..." is a prime example of how these scammers carry on because they know there are many more victims out there who are either lazy or stupid enough to just pay up without a challenge.2 -
I would remove your claim number off the top of thatThe pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.3

GENTS I have copied John's defence and it's ready to send. I've only edited paragraph 3:
3. The Driver was a member of a gym here. This gym is part of a larger chain with sites all over the UK and in this particular site there were parking rules . However these rules were not made clear to the driver at the time.
Now can I send the text of the defence as it us or does it need to be in pdf format ?0 -
Also, we only need to see the paragraphs that you have added or changed. No need to publish reams of info that is unchanged,1
