warranty issue with ASHP which is no longer working

An ASHP system has stopped working towards end of manufacturers warranty.  Installers were investigating possible causes of issue.  Turns out it is in fact the heat pump with the issue. Warranty period is now over and the manufacturers were not informed until this point. They insist the warranty begins at date of sale and not date of system commissioning (switching on after installation).

Any suggestions?  

Have checked the warranty from installer and they do state a certain timescale but not clear if its commission date of purchase date.

So what is the actual wording of the warranty? What are the dates? Manufacturer? 
You can still claim your statutory rights under CRA2015 from the installer/supplier if the warranty has expired. Who did you purchase it from?

Had to recheck warranty - it does clearly state that warranty period commences from date of delivery.  Installer is querying this as delivery date isn't same as commissioning date which is when the system is tested and switched on. This was about 3 weeks after delivery.  Annoyingly it failed just at the end of the warranty which is now out of date.  I guess my question is who is responsible for replacing the system? Manufacturer or installer?

Installer is responsible under CRA2015  if you bought the heat pump from them. If you purchased from a different supplier and the installer only provided a fitting service then the supplier is responsible. NB You'd need to show there was an inherent defect 

The manufacturer is responsible for claims under the manufacturers Warranty.
