Also any purchases made by an additional card holder, are likely exempt from section 75 protection.
    How will they know?

I am an additional cardholder to my wife's Tesco credit card and when I got my card it had the same number, end date, security number on the back and PIN.
They are in the minority... most card issuers give each card a unique number so that one can be cancelled if lost not both, that people can track who spent what etc.
Art thou sure? The only issuer I've experienced with a separate PAN for additional cardholders has been Amex.
Natwest Group certainly use the same PAN (perhaps not a surprise since they have some shared heritage with Tesco credit cards). I know that at least one of the banks that used to issue licensed Amex cards (Lloyds, TSB, MBNA and Barclaycard) did as well because it used to cause problems with the Amex offers. Pretty sure it was LBG.
Can say for certain HSBC group do & others.

Was changed years ago due to the number of complaints about having to stop both cards on accounts. When 1 was lost/fraud etc.

Makes perfect sense. Guess I've only ever set them up on banks doing it 'the old way'.
I'm only going on anecdotal evidence and could have by luck selected companies that give different numbers. It makes more sense these days with the 2 form factor authentication as the second cardholder gets their own text etc of a code to pay online whereas if it was a single number only the primary cardholder would get the message

Tesco and Natwest just ask which cardholder to send a message to.

Another thing about Tesco credit card, my wife has had her card for about 20 years, I just became an additional card holder a year ago,

Now all correspondence sent by snail mail is addressed to Mr M Name and Mrs H Name when it used to be Mrs H Name.

    It pisses her off.

Strange. As there is only one account holder on a credit card. So additional card holders should not be mentioned in mail.

Not my experience either - even the letter with two replacement cards attached was addressed only to me.

When we got married 40 years ago, my wife's mother changed the way she addressed envelopes to her daughter.

She went from writing Miss N MaidenSurname to Mrs S MarriedSurname.   :D

My wife's initial is N, mine is S.

My wife quickly put a stop to that and asked for her to write Mrs N MarriedSurname.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
