Octopus complaint, next steps?

The problem that Octopus has is if the OP’s mother makes a public fuss and it gives in is that it will be inundated with false payment claims. I would be extremely surprised if Octopus, with its technical know how, isn’t 100% sure of its facts.2

You could always ask for a goodwill gesture, as you mother is convinced that she'd won.0

The OP said that they were already offered £50 as a goodwill gesture and they refused and wanted to take it further.pearl123 said:You could always ask for a goodwill gesture, as you mother is convinced that she'd won.
For a "free game" as part of your energy company meter reads, i'd cut my losses and take the £50. Otherwise its just a he says she says argument!!0 -
Just to conclude my post, I really didn't think we'd get a reply, but a journalist from the Mail contacted Octopus on mum's behalf this week, and the next day mum received the full winning credit in her Octopus account. I'm so happy with this outcome, and mum is so happy that someone helped her. I know many on here didn't believe her either, but she was adamant on seeing the winning message.
We spotted this article yesterday, thank goodness we weren't trying to battle for £1million, and just goes to show these systems do have errors, show a person they've won, when it's already decided on a database that they haven't! https://www.itv.com/news/london/2023-03-28/legal-battle-over-whether-lottery-player-won-10-or-1-million
Mum is 100% over the moon now, and that's what makes me happy.3 -
I'm delighted for your Mum Michele - not least as whatever really happened - SHE believed she'd won fair and square, quite clearly! I suspect that the response just a few posts ago about the ability to continue the wheel spinning after the initial "qualified" entries may well be the root of the issue here, but we will probably never know!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
