Hi,
Just had a price increase prediction of £21.50 pm which is more than 50% of my current contract of £53pm.
Current package (18 month) is very good value until Feb 2024 when discounts end and it should be £111pm
Following through todays Virgin e mail  I can get a similar package with increased broadband speed (don’t need this) for £63 pm for 18 months to start now. ( should increase to £124 after 18 months )
So I’m confused  not knowing whether to go for this and also if Virgin can still raise price in what would be a new contract. I do understand RPI implication.
comments/advice would be helpful
thanks

Had that email from Virgin myself a few days ago. It said that a price rise of RPI+3.9% would be automatic every year, and my bill would go up by £6 (so a ~21% increase).
Fired off a terse email saying it was disingenuous of them to promise me a fixed price contract and then inflict a massive increase mid term. The response back has been "the fixed price will remain until end of contract term". Gives me a bit of breathing space to look for an alternative provider later in the year.

They can raise the price on day one of your contract unless the contract states that's it's a fixed price contract. Most telcom contracts are not, I think Tesco Mobile offer this?

Yes, how naive of me to believe that if I signed up and subsequently broke my contract there was a penalty clause  but Virgin are completely free to do whatever they see fit. A one sided arrangement 🙁

I too have had THAT email, which went to my old address despite them confirming they updated it...

I have also written to resolutions as mine has rocketed by 27% absolutely disgusted but expected from Virgin.

I've just had the same email. RPI +3.9% every year? I have just emailed VM to tell them where to stick their contract.

I have just cancelled my Virgin Phone and broadband due to the increase. My contract expires in May anyway and I am having some surgery shortly so decided to get it all sorted out now. When I rang to cancel they did offer a discount but not much so I am taking advantage of a new customer deal although I am having to have a new connection to the property as I never had anything other than Virgin cable. This means I can switch more easily in future. Today Virgin rang and offered a very much discounted deal which more or less matches the new one but I am going ahead with the cancellation and new connection.

Just  to round things off thanks for responses etc. I sent a polite but firmly worded email to resolutionsteam at Virgin . They have agreed in writing for my existing contract to continue with no increase or changes until end of contract in February 2024 . Let’s hope they honour that.
