Energy company reluctant to upgrade Smart Meter

    Here again,
    Despite contacting EDF regarding my Smets1 meters not in ‘Smart Mode’ and asking if they have any update from DCC as to when this to be sorted.
    They saying they are working closely with DCC to have the meters migrated by end of the year.
    Also as in 2022 with the same issue of migration/upgrade, I was told that we had been registered for meter upgrades.
    Today they virtually washing theirs of the issue saying the Smet1 meters cannot be replaced and wait for DCC to migrate the Smets1 meters onto their network and closed my complaint correspondence on their email customers service. 🤷🏻‍♂️ 

    Is it any good referring it to the Energy Ombudsman   ?
     
    If your meter is working & recording your usage EDF will not exchange it for a SMETS2 meter. They usually give £50 goodwill when closing the complaint, did you get this? If you reply to their email stating you didn’t agree to have the complaint closed & you are now going to the ombudsman - if your complaint is under 8 weeks old, ask for a deadlock letter - they may relent & change them, you’ve nothing to lose.

    The Gas meter is working recording my usage, but have now to present a meter reading every month where as the Smart ‘Smets1’ meter had done up-till early in the year. Both meters had been sending usage for 2yrs.
    Did an online check to find if both meters are in Smart mode. It said they both not in Smart mode, yet the electric usage is being sent to EDF but not the gas.

    UPDATE….
    Finally had the latest Smeths2 meter fitted for both electric and gas, also a new IHD unit.

    After with EDF, 4yrs since having a power cut and losing gas usage readings with their app, but the IHD continued to work and did nothing.
    Had same issue with BG for 2 yrs again after a power cut and found the HAN indicator flashing and no electric usage displayed on the IHD unit, yet the app showed my electric usage.
    So sending a email to BG CEO complaints and got a customer complaint number, still took 2/3mths in sorting a date to sort issue.
    Despite being told its DCC issue by both in sorting the Smets1 meter update since first reported error.
    Happy it done now 🤞🙏
