Found a provider that ain't increasing bills in March

Options
Hi Guys,

I have been looking for ways to minimise bills for my families mobiles with the new bill increases most providers are bringing in in March or April

Long story short I was with O2 and the Missus was with Plusnet and the daughter is with Talkmobile so I have been looking for ways to lock in our bills so we don't have bigger bills in the near future

After talking with all the providers and carphone warehouse and trying (unsuccesfully!) to speak with id mobile it appears Talk mobile are not increasing any bills for new customers in line with the RPI that most providers are using as an excuse to increase their bills

As a result all 3 of us have signed up for the 100gb data with unlimited calls and messages on a 12 month contract for £10pm for me that was the easiest way as an existing customer but there is also a cashback offer on here that brings it to £9.87ish but I think but requires credit checks etc for new customers so anybody looking for a provider who is not going to increase bills for new customers in April Talkmobile are worth a look!

p.s their customer service seemed on the ball too which is a refreshing change from my experience with o2!!!

    Are you sure?

Terms, minimum term agreement & CPI+3.9% charges apply. 15GB roam fair use policy. See terms & conditions. Roam like at home in 41 destinations

    1. i) Annual adjustment to your Plan Charge and OPS Charges. Each April, your Plan Charge and OPS Charges will increase by an amount equal to the Consumer Price Index rate published by the Office for National Statistics in January (“CPI rate”) plus an additional 3.9% on top of the CPI rate. We will apply that CPI rate plus 3.9% adjustment from your April bill. In the event that the CPI rate is negative, this will be ignored but the additional 3.9% will still apply. For roaming charges, such annual adjustment will apply from April 2023 onwards;

I’m not sure about this. As of 20th Feb they were planning mid-contract rises.
  • Wonder why their T&Cs still mention the annual rise if they have scrapped it?
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

  • There are no annual price increases with iD Mobile’s SIM only plans, but they do have annual increases on their phone plans.

RWG is PAYG, so no commitment on either side, but they have committed to no price increases on bundles or PAYG prices throughout 2023 if that helps. £3.50/month for 2GB data and unlimited calls and texts isn't bad if you don't need more data.
  • I don't know how to say this any clearer the agent read me the email from Talkmobile headshed who stated they had decided not to raise their prices in Mar/Apr I suppose anybody here could ring and ask but that is what was stated to me and we have been told the price quoted /paid is not going to raise this year

Well I, for one, never doubted your information for a moment.

But I online-chatted to a TalkMobile agent anyway who confirms that there will be no increases to prices this year.

How can an agent possibly know in February what pricing policy head office might decide on in the next 10 months of the year? They might not increase at the end of the tax year in April, but they could still do so at any time later in the year. Who knows what inflation will be 10 months forward?

I can only quote from my discussion with Habiba

16:25, Feb 24 Habiba: Hello, you're chatting with Habiba, one of Talkmobile's Help Team. How may we assist you today?

16:25, Feb 24 You: Hello, if I take out a contract today will the price be increased in April?

16:26, Feb 24 Habiba: Hi John, hope that you are doing well today. We have taken the decision not to carry out inflation – linked price rises in April 2023 or throughout 2023. We reserve the right to do price rises in the future years in line with t&c .

16:26, Feb 24 You: That's great, when will you be updating your T&C's on the website?

16:28, Feb 24 Habiba: Regarding the increase, we mention in the T&Cs that there may be an increase each April and if there is we do notify the customers. Everything else should remain the same as the most recent one.

16:29, Feb 24 Habiba: SIM Only & Phone Contract Terms and Conditions | Talkmobile

16:29, Feb 24 You: So there may be an increase this April if I take out a new contract today?

16:30, Feb 24 Habiba: No increase will apply in 2023 but the annual increase term still applies as it may take place in the following year.

PS : my name is not John.
