But it seems that my tax is being paid as it shows as this:

    What tax?

Do you mean that you have  opted not to receive the CB payments - see below.

    See https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit-tax-charge

    She presumably mean NI credits.

  • No you don't need to. If you work 10 more years you will get full pension. If you don't for any reason you have plenty of time to buy years in the future.
  • It also looks like you are getting the child benefit credits which you will get till your youngest is 12.

We don't get the tax charge because we don't get CB. But I must have done something because I am getting National Insurance credits
  •  I'm in the same position regarding child benefit. My husband fills in a tax return which insures I get the credits though not the child benefit. I'm guessing it's the same for you

    You've misunderstood something somewhere.

There is no requirement to complete a tax return just to get Child Benefit related NI credits

He either needs to compete one for some other reason, has been receiving the Child Benefit or is completing them unnecessarily.
  • He has to complete them anyway yes.
  • And yes we do get a small proportion of child benefit
  • Also if you claim child benefit but you earn over a certain amount you do have to fill in a tax return. If you don't claim the child benefit then you won't get the credits. So we claim the benefit and lose most of it when we file the tax return but it makes sure we get the credits. As it happens they started asking for a tax return before we had our son, not sure why.

Considering it’s a rather important matter it will certainly be worthwhile trying to educate yourself a bit better to understand exactly what’s going on in your situation.

Not trying to be condescending, just offering my opinion.
