I've spent a lot over the last couple of weeks on refilling the grocery and household store cupboard, split between Sains and Aldi, and on some frozen fish at Iceland. The fish was 3 packs for £10, saving £4.50 on what it would have cost buying each item separately.
Total for the year so far stands at £261.38.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget8 -

UPDATE ON CHICKEN HOTPOT :-It was one of the easiest meals that I have ever made, and all from storecupboard ingredients! Very cheap.DHs exact words were"Its bl***y lovely!" Quick to make too although it did need an hour in the oven. I baked a few biscuits whilst I was at it to fill the oven up.

Did our shop on Saturday evening, got fruit and veg, milk and cheese but not a lot else and came to £44.01. Yesterday spent another £9.25 in coop on some bits for dinner and sons trip. Hoping not to go shopping until Friday, may just need a bottle of milk as the kids have got into making milk shakes and eating more cereal because my dad got them coco pops.
total spent £110.24/250

Another top up shop mainly for things for today's lunch which I didn't have in stock. Spent £10.30 which included £1.30 for 2 pints of milk for my friend which she paid for in cash but I put on my card. Have now spent £74.69/£200 leaving me £128.31 so not too bad as nearly half way through month and not spent half the budget.6

I went to the "no plastic" shop today and got granola and muesli for days when I'm bored of porridge. It came to £3.96 in total so I'm currently at £44.62/£250 but I do have a big supermarket shop coming tomorrow so it'll suddenly jump up.
I'm trying to clear out things lurking at the back of the cupboards at the moment and found a packet of felafel mix. I have no idea why I bought it and I'm not exactly excited about using it but I think I'll try and zshush it up a bit by adding some sauteed veg before forming into balls and frying. Fingers crossed for an edible result!7 -

I like falafel and akara too, lovely hot in pitta with lettuce, cucumber, and tomato. Why would anyone vegan or not, want fake meat when there are tasty real foods to make from pulses.6
