  • The postcode for returns doesn't exist
Will be a seller based in China.
They use  a fake UK address, so they can pretend to be UK based.

Won't help the OP but Amazon are now settling lower value claims where products harm consumers in the US. Currently the marketplaces take the position what happens is nothing to do with them beyond any cover they may voluntarily offer (such as A-Z, eBay Money Back Guarantee, etc), hopefully they will be held more accountable in the future.

If you ran a site hosting a boot fair and let a load of stall holders sell knock off goods eventually the site would get closed down, seems these marketplaces are immune to any enforcement as I've seen plenty of counterfeit goods on all of them which have earnt these big companies a tidy sum over the years.

It's On-Buy's responsibility, since they sold the items to you. ... If the items are fake, then you should also report On-Buy for selling them - you can report that to Citizens advice as well as Action Fraud.
Shockingly bad advice and completely and utterly wrong.
On-buy does not sell anything, they are simply a marketplace that connects buyers with sellers:
We're an Online Marketplace ... we don't compete with our sellers by selling anything ourselves and we never will.

Does it make a difference if the payment goes to Onbuy? When you buy from ebay say, you pay the seller directly. In this case, the paypal payment goes to onbuy (at least that is what the transaction history shows).
Not really... that's how most marketplaces work which is why S75 claims fail.  eBay for years was the same because legally you paid PayPal who in turn paid the seller.

Realistically the OP has decided to buy from a company with only a PO Box address, only 3 sales all of which are within 5 days in July 2022 and even with such a low feedback 1 is negative and the other two only comment on speed of delivery. Delivery timescales show that it's clearly either not a professional seller or it's t pa long distance away.

The seller has nothing on sale at the moment so the OPs comment that they're still defauding others isnt exactly true... clearly if the seller or the market place has blocked sales is unclear
  • I've just received a fake Moroccan Oil product from OnBuy, which has come from China. I have messaged both OnBuy and the Chinese seller, let's see what happens....I'm surprised at Trust Pilot allowing their logo to be used for OnBuy. I'll be contacting TP for their input and also to see if they actually do endorse OnBuy.

Not sure why you think TrustPilot are endorsing OnBuy.
TP are a review site & as such any retailer can add TP link/name to their site if there are reviews for them.

Just look at the reviews on TP for the company & it tells you all you need to know about the risk you are taking.  🤷‍♀️

The whole point of review sites is to check before purchase 👍

I would not be so sure & that the one I linked too is just the same outfit.

Look at the picture on the review. It does show .com. 👍
