Why is that, please?EssexHebridean said:Purple bricks being involved would put me off far more than the sale history! 😆

My son bought through purplebricks. They aren't very pro-active, so you end up dealing with the seller directly mostly.EssexHebridean said:Purple bricks being involved would put me off far more than the sale history! 😆I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. This is where I would actually knock on either neighbour and ask the question....1

How much do you need to speak to the agent as a buyer anyway? Just use your solicitor or line they did, speak to the seller directly. I prefer it tbh.silvercar said:

It isn't just speaking to an estate agent that you need.housebuyer143 said:

A good estate agent will make sure the sale is running smoothly, communicate not only with vendors and purchases but also with solicitors and surveyors and lenders.
There is a world of difference between the service you get from a good agent and an online cheap agent who literally just lists the property.1 -
Sadly, Purplebricks has all but gone bust. Their share price has collapsed to practically nothing and they are in the embarrassing position of having had to put themselves up for sale.RelievedSheff said:housebuyer143 said:

Apparently no-one wants to use an online cheap agent who literally just lists the property.2 -
People move for different reasons. The former owners could have relocated/won the Lottery/moved to a different country/had a baby/had a child leave the nest etc etc. The people who bought in 2018 may now be finding that it doesn’t work for them in terms of workspace. The people who bought in 2016 may have bought it as a flipper.
FWIW, we lived in a mid terrace for 11 years. It wasn’t ideal, but we coped. When my mother died, we were able to buy a run down but habitable semi. Fast forward a few years and that property was becoming unsuitable, but, thanks to a promotion and working more hours, we were able to buy our current house. No house is perfect, but I’ve found that when you have no option you get on with it. When you have options, moving becomes quite appealing.1
