boots_babe That is some good news.I feel though that if I'm set up to automatically pay the fee I should be notified as soon as the fee is triggered.0

When I spend anything using Paypal or my Barclays debit card I receive an instant notification. Why should TFL be any different.
Does the 'TfL Pay to Drive in London' app list the dates for which you are being charged or do you just get a total amount.
Otherwise if you have never given them any details how are they meant to notify you? They need to get your details from DVLA to send a fine. Only way they can notify you otherwise is if you contact them first and set up autopay.
That is why the nasty, greedy disclaimer has to be ticked; they aren't liable to refund over-payments made out of an abundance of caution.
A future court ruling on this deliberate blind-siding of the motoring public is not out of the question...

I agree. If I spend a few pound on my First Direct bank card, I receive an instant notification on my app. Older people are more concerned about their spending - despite what some people think about their wealth and broad shoulders.

You are comparing a bank who has all your contact details with TFL who in many cases have no contact details as no account has been registered.
Just how do you think they are going to get any contact detail & contact you in any sort of reasonable timescale?
DVLA holds nothing more than a address of the registered keeper. So only option would be post. So looking at 1 to 2 weeks for anything to arrive.Life in the slow lane0 -
It’s all been left to the motorist, every single ‘entry’ into the zone is supposedly fully and clearly signposted so the argument will be that the motorist should be aware and I have to agree. If auto pays been set up simply go into your account to check it’s been taken. I have to do this if I ever use the Dartford Crossing; I used to have a windscreen tag which sounded but that system was scrapped so I now rely on the ANPR doing its job but still look up my account to make sure0

But, if you are registered to pay the charge, TFL must have your details. They decided what details they require to charge offenders. Because my car is compliant, I don't need to worry.
