I once missed paying the council tax for 7 months
we had previously lived in army accommodation and we didn't pay it direct ourselves so i just totally blanked on paying it. I rang the council and they were fine, they just added extra to each month and spread it into the next year to make it payable.

Hello Thursday,This week has been going well so far.I'd bought a water butt a couple of weeks ago when we had a threat of heavy rain showers, the heavy showers didn't materialise and the bit of rain we did get evaporated as quick as it fell. This week though, the cooler weather and heavy rain showers have resulted in a teeny tiny puddle collecting in the butt and like a proud garden mum, its a little thing that has brought some joy! Yes am getting old lol. We do need to plumb in the drainpipe hose adapter thingy which will help to collect more water but for now am pleased we have made a start. This morning I was a bit irritated by watching a video on YT by quite a well known couple who paid their mortgage off in a short space of time. I won't name them but found the video frustrating. They did work hard at achieving this but it was quite obvious they had good incomes and work bonus to chuck into the mortgage along with other things which is a world away from my situation. I did like some of their tips so will re-watch and see what will work for us.This is not so MSE but is it wrong it admit am feeling a bit of "financial anxiety" relief. I have some upcoming payments due on my cc related to summer holidays and was worried about moving monies around to cover everything. Well the long and short of it the amount I can borrow through the cc has increased a bit. This is not good and I am the first person to shout it but just to see this short term issue is covered is a relief. Sadly my extra income from my temp contract I won't see in July pay but should be there in Aug so I have a bit of a game plan.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Dearest @Queen_of_the_Hive, you're allowed to admit anxiety here! It's all part of the journey and highly relevant to your debt- free progress. You're doing wonderfully well. Your posse of devoted admirers is cheering you on love Humdinger xx2

Hello Sunday! We had a big, soggy, downpour this morning and the child in me was soooo excited! So chucked on my wellies and raincoat and had to get wet! The mission was to reposition the new water butt to have the opportunity for maximum water collection! It worked to a fashion. So proud but damp "garden mummy" now has a teeny tiny puddle of water in the water butt. Yay! Still haven't made it to the big orange to purchase their famous orange buckets but will def make it there at somepoint this week. These buckets will be purchased using a gift card which has already been bought through Sprive. Thus a a penny or two towards the mortgage! Actually talking of Sprive, need to buy another gift card for the big blue supermarket to buy cat food as we are running low.Last week, week 1 of extra hours went well and to be frank by Friday afternoon was nodding off! Was very greatful for 5.30pm. Was tired on Saturday and didn't feel like doing anything. So spent most of the day doing some forward planning for September, getting school holiday dates save down in the calendar, working out what weekends the kids were with me and looking at train options. Then proceeded to book 'Trip1' of the new school year.Well I am trying something new with our printer - we need new cartridges and they are pricy so have set up a subscription with the maker of the printer. We are light users and get a special offer. Will see how this works out.Tomorrow is back to work for another working week. Have made myself some mushroom soup with an added ingredient - kale! Had some leftover from last week. Hopefully it tastes decent together.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Hello Sunny Saturday!Well I am in holiday mode a bit prematurly! Don't go on holiday till friday next week and still have 4 days of work left. Tuesday is travel back to the city day plus see the not so little one in his school end of year show. Its really a gorgeous thing to do. They have concerts on a the local theatre which is actually pretty big venue!MSE wise i'm kinda closing my eyes a little bit to the debt to enjoy time with family. Our holiday is budgeted for and we will then have 2 weeks together before going back to their dads. I'm working full time during the day but plan to make the most of the summer evenings. We'll go and enjoy the beach, have a meal or two out and lots of fun!!This weekend is monthly finances review time and in short credit card debt dropped slightly on all but one card, that one increased sadly. This is the first month I've been tracking my personal debt plus the joint mortgage and my total overall debt decreased by £412. Its not a lot but somethingBack to holiday talk. I am not one to buy clothes or really spend money on myself but this week i've had a little personal splurge. By that I bought myself some tops and a pair of trainers. I guess this is quite normal spending for some but for me it really is a treat. The tops are some popular t shirt tops which I live in from Next. They do some good packs of assorted colours so will go nicely with a couple of pairs of summer trousers I bought the other month. I also 'rescued' a hat. I normally wear a battered old straw hat which I love but its showing its age. Last year I found a lovely wider brimmed straw hat. Its a bit of a pain to wear though as the slightest of breeze and it blows off. Well, after hunting online have bought "cowboy hat" strings and fitted them this afternoon. So pleased! It will be perfect!2025 financial goals & challenges!
