Hello Sunday,Having a quite nice weekend. The kids are with their dad and so making the most of the time.Yesterday was a gym morning followed by an afternoon cycle on one of those offroad local cycle routes. It follows a water source so all pretty and stuff. Was nice & enjoyed lunch in the cafe part way on the route. Was cold and looked like it was going to rain but didn't. Friday night was a spontaneous trip to the pub, my lovely neighbour was celebrating a significant birthday.Spending wise, bought one of the kids a secondhand bike from eb&y, this is an early birthday present. Was on for £150 but offered £130 which was accepted. Going to pick up late next week
. Also went food shopping to Li@l. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the £25 voucher thingy till after shopping there. Split shopping costs with OH and came to just shy of £18. Bought some foods the kids like. They are with us next week.
Cashed out Prolific, only £9.39 but this has been added to Investment ISA, so now have £64 sitting ready to invest in next opportunity. I've been investing the min £100 per company.Today I need to log on to work and download payslips in prep for mortgage advisor appointment on Friday & have some other admin to do for the business.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Hello Friday,Hope everyone is having a good day.The big activity of the day was having our meeting with an independent mortgage advisor. We explained our situation, gave our figures and personal details. We are a challenging case but feel glad for at least trying. The advisor will come back to us next friday so please everyone keep your fingers crossed for us
.
The meeting was this morning and I have sunk a little this afternoon, so perked myself up with a bar of choc and a bit of book reading. Sent an email to a temp recruitment agency and now have some forms to complete to see if I can get a bit of temporary work. Its parents evening at the school for one of the kids and then we will enjoy friday night. Fancy watching a movie with the troops and relaxing. Will do more thinking about our situation tomorrow. Also, there was a small win with the Investment ISA. 2 payouts and so have a little more in the pot towards next investment. No luck on surveys though. Been very quiet on this front.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Hello Tuesday,Well we woke up to.....NO SNOW! However where my mum lives it looks like she did indeed get some of the white stuff! Will call her later to find out.We had a nice weekend full of kids birthday parties and the kids had their first taste of seeing football live! Def recommend watching womens football games, was fabulous. Myself and OH are not into football but the kids love it so we thought why not. The womens games are much cheaper too.Yesterday the kids were back to school and back to their dad as they usually do. For me it was a working day and more importantly a NSD. Today is work again and also planning another NSD. I did book free tickets for the Sky Gardens, we've been before but have a lot of love for this place, very special so going to enjoy that.On the weekend I spent a bit of time calculating the income increases from current different income streams and it looks like as a minimum i'll get enough to cover at least the large leap in rent. Myself and OH are sharing the burden on this one. Pension will go up slightly but nothing else & may help the mortgage situation. The littlest was asking about a holiday on the weekend, its tough because the kids don't know our financial burdens and we haven't got a budget for this as such this year. Hmmmm.....However I did manage to add £5.17 to the Investment Isa, so there is now £573.53 in there

Hello Friday evening,It was world book day for the kids at school today, they had a lot of fun getting dressed up and taking some photos before school. Was expecting the mortgage advisor to contact us to feedback on our sit and potential for a mortgage but so far no news, aaahhh, just want to know. Am not the most patent person at times. lolTomorrow doing a bit of volunteering in the morning and in the afternoon will take a strole around the big smoke until I get too cold (which won't be long!).Yesterday was a bit of a spendy day.. Food shopping was £58, the littlest requested a hot water bottle which OH bought & I needed to buy the other kid a ticket for an event on at school.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Hello Friday,Its been a busy work wise two weeks but not much else moving house wise.I still need to investigate an alternative mortgage advisor, the house we like has reducing in price but I just don't think the moons will align for this one this time sadly.Last week spent some ££ on holiday accomodation for the summer and had some kids termly activitites to pay for which was expensive. This week so far has been much more frugal. Need next week to be frugal too as we are away for first week of Easter holidays.Added to the investment isa pot. Now sitting at £590.41, an increase from £573.53 which I have recorded in this diary on the 7th March2025 financial goals & challenges!

Oooops its been quite a while since last posting.Last month was a very expensive month as part booked a holiday and Easter holidays ate a lot too but we had a nice time so def worth the financial pain. This month is a relatively more quiet month. In my house purchase world we've been considering other areas and looking at casting our search area wider and if I am honest I really want to be stubborn and stick to only looking at houses even if they are on the small side or needing work & def have to have some kind of garden.Small wins - the investment isa is sitting at £627.19 & currently waiting for P60 to be able to submit this years annual returns.

Happy UK Fathers day!To be honest I haven't updated this diary for sooo long but thats not to say MFW has not been in the radar. So lets start with the good news. We've found a house we'd like to buy. Its not in the location I would prefer to be but for various reasons it could work. Its a decent sized Victorian terrace house, v close to train station. It has a small garden, a beautiful staircase (love a staircase), is part renovated and has storage!Location wise its a major compromise, moving away from the area the kids are living in. They will stay with their dad and i'll have to travel quite a distance to see them. This has been an absolute gut wrenching option to persue we are just majorly priced out where we currently are.We are entering the fire of current mortgage increases :#so all in all I really don't think it will come off but we are persuing to see if we would be accepted for a mortgage, how much we could borrow and what it will cost. I have a small amount of money in savings to use for deposit, stamp duty and costs etc.Good luck to anyone else also trying on a difficult path!2025 financial goals & challenges!
