Is it worth paying off my contract early?
Hi I’m currently with Vodaphone and am contracted with them until this October.
I’ve been toying with the idea of paying off what’s left of my contract just before the start of April and swapping over to Lebara.
I’ve just got a settlement figure and it’s approx £400 at the moment. I’ve worked out that the price rise in April will add about £7-£8 to my monthly bill. If my monthly price rise was just on the airtime plan, I wouldn’t consider leaving early, but it’s one monthly fee that covers both the handset and the airtime.
There’s nothing wrong with my current handset, so I’m more than happy to go SIM only.
I just object to companies imposing these ridiculously high price rises. It’s just pure greed!

If the maths works out, and will cost you less, then why not.How does the £7 or £8 rise, compare with a rolling contract from Lebara?Currently, you're paying £50 a month (£400/8 months), which may become £58?If you do the settlement, you're still paying the equivalent of £50/ month + Lebara.Of course, you may want to switch, just because you disagree with the price rise, in which case it's more of a personal choice, than a financial decision, so still go for it if you want to.0

Looking at the lebara plans on mse, the 12gb plan is £6.90 but £2.99 for the first 6 months, so unless you need a lot more data than that it is worth paying up your contract now.1

I did exactly the same last month to avoid the price increase!
You might get lucky and not be charged the settlement figure! We were told we would be charged £300, instead they credited us £13 on the final bill!
If over the rest of your contract is cheaper to pay off the £400 and move to Lebara then do it. If not, stay0
