Unexpected Extra Hand Luggage Addition Cost

I might just consider this0

Thanks for your comment. I fly with EasyJet. I’m thinking if these changes came into effect as per your dates above. Then how come onthebeach didn't offer the extra hand luggage option when I first made my purchase at the end of December 2022? They only told me about the rule change after I got in contact with my query. They charge £30 admin fee for every change on my booking too.Caz3121 said:
which airline?funkyhev said:the flight company had now changed there rules at the beginning of February
EasyJet made changes to hand luggage to one underseat bag unless pay more in February 2021
Ryanair did it in November 18 and Wizz October 180 -
All very true. I may just have to do this.elsien said:Wear lots of layers to travel. Or learn to roll clothes up very small. Or wear a coat with a lot of pockets. Take clean underwear in your rucksack. Buy toiletries when you get there. Sorted.
Seriously. how much do you need for 3 days?0 -
Yes the standard size was in place at time of booking. I’ve not flown for ages. So when I really thought about the size they had given me I thought it seamed abit small for hand luggage (not a mini suitcase that can go in over head locker) so when I queried this they advised easyJet rules had changed. My disappointment is that I wasn’t given any other additional hand luggage allowance options at the time of my original booking in December 2022. But it’s going to cost me an additional £111 now to get the additional hand luggage added to my booking.sheramber said:I purchased a 3 day holiday to Portugal back in December 2022
At the time of my purchase a standard hand luggage size bag was included only in my booking.
A few weeks later, I realised that the size of the standard hand luggage bag was just a small ruck sack that was to fit under the seat in front of me during the flight.
Was the standard size in place at time of booking but you had assumed it was a bigger size?0 -

Sorry if I am reading it wrong, just reads like you assumed it was bigger so didn't bother to get checked bags as you wouldn't need it, but then realised the bag size is small so contacted them?
If it was just an assumption about size, they are not to blame.
As I said, this is just how it read to me, so sorry if this is wrong.

This is exactly how I’m feeling about it to be honest. When I originally purchased the holiday there were no other hand luggage options available at the time of my booking (just the standard rucksack size) which is fine. But when i thought about it more I was expecting to be able to put a mini suitcase size in over head locker but wasn’t given the choice. I’ve not flown in a long time. So I raised a query to then be informed of new changes and it would now cost me an additional £111 to purchase additional hand luggage. It costs me £30 admin fee for every change to my booking. Just doesn’t seam fair to me.Pollycat said:I'd have thought (maybe naively) that airlines would honour the rules applicable at the time of booking, not retrospectively change them for booking made before the change came into effect.0 -
