Thanks Ron-ski. I'm getting conflicting advice. I've also been told that if you change your existing Export meter for a Bi-Directional meter, your system you would still be eligible for FiT with a DC coupled battery. There does appear to be advice on the Ofgem website confirming this.Ron-ski said:
Basically, A DC coupled battery is linked directly to the inverter by a DC connection, so doesn't increase the system output. You can't use a DC coupled battery with a FITS system, you could then charge the battery and then discharge and the generation meter would measure the out going power as generation. Its unlikely a FITS system would have a hybrid inverter anyway.scubajoe said:What’s the difference between an AC coupled battery and a DC coupled battery as far as the FiT scheme is concerned? I’ve been discussing both with an installer who advises that an AC coupled battery needs DNO permission or notification but a DC coupled battery does not.
Anyone got any experience of this?
An AC coupled battery is a separate device, so then you have the power of that added to the power of the PV system, thus increasing your potential total export power.0 -
It is difficult to keep up with, and it never seems to be very clear. Previously you were not allowed to alter the PV system, if parts failed you had to replace with the same power items. Thanks Ron-ski. I'm getting conflicting advice. Now it appears you can even increase the size of the system, and they then pro-rata the paid FITS back to the original system size, so perhaps they have also taken account of batteries, you'd just need to deduct the generation meter import from the export, to get true generation (not accounting for efficiency losses).

Given that Flux Import has the same SC and unit rate (outside the peak and trough) as the EPG, I'm wondering if it will follow the new rates coming with the July price cap. Have they given any indication?I'm aware they're not obliged to. Flux is likely still a better deal than SVR+Outgoing Fixed for Q3 even if it remains as is, but Q4 onwards could be a different story.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). On a decent afternoon I'm managing around 3kw export between 4pm and 7pm.
That with cooking an evening meal.
Flux is doing brilliantly and my initial thoughts about it looking a bit average have been prov3d very wrong.4.3kwp JA panels, Huawei 3.68kw Hybrid inverter, Huawei 10kw Lunar 2000 battery, Myenergi eddi, South facing array with a 15 degree roof pitch, winter shade.1 -
Enjoying my first week on Flux. 5.4 kWhrs during peak today, 36.6 in total. Would have been more however the oven went on twice as well as the dishwasher. Could be pushing 40 tomorrow!EcoScruples said:On a decent afternoon I'm managing around 3kw export between 4pm and 7pm.

I just need the payments to start filtering through, be nice to get an electric statement, haven't had one for ages, just gas statements, if I've not had one by June I'll chase them. Although they have reduced my DD.
51 exported yesterday, 20 during the peak period.0 -
Is that battery assisted?Ron-ski said:I just need the payments to start filtering through, be nice to get an electric statement, haven't had one for ages, just gas statements, if I've not had one by June I'll chase them. Although they have reduced my DD.

Yes, I'm charging my batteries off peak, and then discharge a fair amount at peak.
I did generate 54kWh yesterday though.0 -
Must be a big system- 8kw?Ron-ski said:Yes, I'm charging my batteries off peak, and then discharge a fair amount at peak.
