Sorry I should have said, oven is 2.2kw, kettle is 1kw, microwave is 800w (I did use the microwave after I'd turned off the cooker though.
So no peak above what the battery could manage.

Lots of situations like this I'm going to have to play with.
I'm even willing to give it a go in the winter for a bit to see how it goes.

Still awaiting confirmation of the export side.
    4 days since import confirmed.
Give them a ring and chase it up, you might get jiggled to the top of the in-tray.

Well that explains, but lower power electric heating devices just take longer and thus use similar kWh's, unless you're gaining efficiency somewhere.

Only reason I use lower rated kettle etc is so I can avoid battery pull in the day when solar is good. I don't mind waiting a bit longer if I save a few watts.

Octopus seem to cornering the PV market somewhat, how long before a rival emerges?

@EcoScruples a win is a win after all.

Hopefully there will be a competitor offering similar tariffs, I think Bulb were doing something, but they are now part of Octopus.

Confirmation just came through that we are now on flux export so all in all it took a shade over 4 days to switch, very decent.
Now to be brave and have a play with my battery settings

Has anyone rerun the numbers of solar Vs battery and solar with flux?

It would appear the payback period for solar is greatly reduced, but including a battery isn't as beneficial as it once was? Ditto for adding a battery to an existing install.

Solar plus PW2 presently set up for solar only (no grid import). Last 28 days, my Octopus account shows an import/export credit of £52.57. I could be better off if I let my PW2 run in Time-Based Consumption Mode with Export all selected.

@Meatballs Not quite sure what you mean, but adding a battery gives benefits.

    • Allows you to store excess solar for later use
    • Allows you to charge at the off peak rate and use later - very useful for winter months
    • Allows you to force discharge in the peak period
Currently I charge my battery in the off peak period every day, my electric costs for the last week are -£18, I couldn't do that without a battery.
