Screwdriva said:Looks like the cost of import has dropped by ~9% but the export tariff paid has dropped by ~14% for the London area.
Not sure why Octopus has decided to reduce the export tariff disproportionately - would be good to know if this ratio applies to other regions as well?
Seems to me as though Octopus have revised the tariff based on expected future wholesale energy prices.

I am still on it and expect to be for another month or so.
But I haven't really thought about it much yet.
Maybe I can stick with it all year.
We'll see, I really don't know what my new solar panels will do over the winter.

Seems to me as though Octopus have revised the tariff based on expected future wholesale energy prices. In Screwdriva's region (London), peak prices have fallen by 3.868p/kWh, day by 2.763p/kWh and flux by 1.658p/kWh.In debitcardmayhem's region (Eastern), the changes are 3.993p, 2.788p and 1.673p respectively. In both regions, import continues to be 11p/kWh more expensive than export in all three cases.N. barker77 said:Does that suggest a fix deal is likely better value or better staying variable? The day rate reduction is similar to the change in the Ofgem cap from July to October. In both regions, the old and new day rates are the same as the Ofgem capped single rate SVT for the period.I don't think this tells us anything we didn't already know.

For me the rate reduction is welcome. I've exported 2.58 Mwhrs (just sunshine, no import) since late May whilst the export rate has been at its highest and I will now be eating into that cash buffer whilst the import is at its lowest. Higher rates in BST and lower rates in GMT are ideal. Plus export should still be worthwhile into November (10.9 kWhrs today, 0.8 during peak) and from February. It will be interesting to see the balance after a full year on Flux.1

I'm not sure the rate reduction's welcome for anyone who's exporting more than they import over the year as a whole - though it might be a bit better over winter they're not going to increase them again in spring unless the cap goes up. I agree that it's only really Dec and Jan that are likely to be much worse under Flux than E7 (though E7 allows more than twice as long at a better rate overnight). Am planning to stick with Flux rather than take any risk of being unable to switch back when I want to.4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery.
