Did the service you use have guaranteed time frames and /or any compensation for lateness?Jerry_Cornelius said:
Indeed, makes me wonder if I could change my claim from Lost to Late, considering my item was posted 5 weeks before the cyber-attack, and if they had posted it as they were supposed too, it would have been received in the US well before the disruption.misterthrifty said:
It looks like RM are delaying settling any claims for missing tracked overseas packages, presumably, if they manage to finally deliver them then they will no longer be 'lost' so the claims will be turned down. I have some claims in this position, if they do get turned down I may try complaining with RM and possibly Ofcom as RM have failed to provide the service that was paid for.I also have had a lost item claim in with Royal Mail since the 12th of January...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Have you got a claim in already? If it doesn’t show any tracking , and therefore doesn’t show delivery your claim should be safe.knightstyle said:Well my parcel is no longer trackable so I wonder what will happen next?
I have filled in a form on line to ask where it is.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not a claim just an on line form asking where the parcel is. So annoying as it contained things made by us for our DDs birthday. Not much £ value but worth a lot to us.0

It was Royal Mail Tracked & Signed, but reading the RM website they only seem to have claim options for domestic post, and even then only if RM were responsible for the entiure journey, i.e no other carrier was partially used in its journey. This is probably why Internationally, you can't claim because once it leaves the UK, its in the hands of "other" carriers. In my case tho, the actual International bit of the journmey was delivered in good time; the lateness stems from the fact they had it for 72 of the 88 days its been in transit.

Even in the UK the only guaranteed service is special delivery .Jerry_Cornelius said:soolin said:

Our parcel to Indonesia 'only' took 6 weeks (arrived today), although the tracking still says it's in MK

Well I finally managed to get through on the phone and it seems the package is now in Auckland waiting customs clearance.0

Yeah, just received a letter from RM today happily informing me that my item was delievered on the 4th March, with no regard to why it was delayed, just the usuall apologies rubbish. I've also not received any email from the buyer since it was delivered, so i've emailed him now, see what happenes. I'm not expecting a reply really since he hasn't messaged me as I said ... then again, when I went to message him from the ebay options, it wouldn't let me message him linked to the original auction because the item number "no longer exists" (because it was cancelled or over 90 days, not sure). So I had to use the Contact Buyer button.soolin said:
If RM link your claim with the ‘delivered’ status then your claim will not be paid, this is one reason why I stopped selling direct to the US quite a few years ago as I lost a few items that way. Your only option would be to rely on goodwill of buyer to make arrangements to pay you direct.Jerry_Cornelius said:OK, so after 88 days in transit, the tracking now states my item was delivered to the original buyer in the US on the 4th March. Considering I refunded the buyer at the beginning of January and closed the dispute, now wondering what I should do. Obviously no idea what state its in, or whether its OK. Should I wait to see if I get a message from the buyer? Should I message him? If he decides he wants it how would he pay me? I also have had a lost item claim in with Royal Mail since the 12th of January...
