Parcel to NZ stuck in Milton Keynes!

Options
Royal Mail posted 28th Jan and now stuck in MK for 2 weeks!  Any idea when it will go to NZ?  I know there have been problems in the post but thought that when they started taking parcels again things would move a bit quicker than that.

  • We have a large letter going to Indonesia posted about the same time, still stuck at MK.  I almost wonder if they're waiting for enough to fill a consignment going that way - or it could be the opposite and waiting for a backlog to clear.

Thank goodness for tracking knowing where it is, though!
  • LOL, I posted a parcel on 6th Dec 2022, reached Langley HWDC on the 7th and just stayed there ... by Jan 12th 2023 I had refunded the buyer and put a lost claim in with RM; and then randomly checked the tracking number last week to discover it had gone to Milton Keynes PSC on the 22nd Jan! And thats the last update! So mine hasn't even gotten out of the country or been sent back to me after 9 weeks!
  • I went to the international bulletin page, and it says this:

"Delivery of International items may take slightly longer than usual. Customers using International Tracked / International Tracked and Signed services may notice different tracking information as items leave the UK. We are seeing some delays to some Tracking events in a small number of destinations. As we continue to work with our partners to resolve this, if you cannot see tracking information for your items then it is likely to be available on the overseas’ Posts own tracking websites."

I wonder if our parcels really are stuck at Milton Keynes, it whether the tracking's just hinky.  I find parcelsapp.com to be useful for this kind of thing (haven't checked our parcel's tracking on it yet).
  • I believe the scanners RM use for scanning were all compromised in the cyberattack, so they aren't able to scan the original tracking numbers. They are allocating new numbers but it isn't always possible (can't be bothered) to update to new tracking codes. The information you see on the RM site may or may not be correct.
RM seem to be in a real mess over this and they haven't issued an update for a couple of weeks, the cyber attack was over a month ago and they should have a proper action plan that they share with their customers I am still not able to send anything overseas from PO and no idea when or if we will be able to again.

You maybe right, my item recieved another update on the 16th Feb - with exactly the same text as it said on 22nd Jan - "Item Received PSC Milton Keynes". I wouldnt mind but my item was sent 5 weeks before the damned cyberattck, and i've no idea how my claim is progressing i put in on 12th Jan ...

OK, so after 88 days in transit, the tracking now states my item was delivered to the original buyer in the US on the 4th March. Considering I refunded the buyer at the beginning of January and closed the dispute, now wondering what I should do. Obviously no idea what state its in, or whether its OK. Should I wait to see if I get a message from the buyer? Should I message him? If he decides he wants it how would he pay me? I also have had a lost item claim in with Royal Mail since the 12th of January...

If RM link your claim with the ‘delivered’ status then your claim will not be paid, this is one reason why I stopped selling direct to the US quite a few years ago as I lost a few items that way. Your only option would be to rely on goodwill of buyer to make arrangements to pay you direct.

It looks like RM are delaying settling any claims for missing tracked overseas packages, presumably, if they manage to finally deliver them then they will no longer be 'lost' so the claims will be turned down. I have some claims in this position, if they do get turned down I may try complaining with RM and possibly Ofcom as RM have failed to provide the service that was paid for.

Indeed, makes me wonder if I could change my claim from Lost to Late, considering my item was posted 5 weeks before the cyber-attack, and if they had posted it as they were supposed too, it would have been received in the US well before the  disruption.

Well my parcel is no longer trackable so I wonder what will happen next?
I have filled in a form on line to ask where it is.
