No I’ve had this confirmed but she can make a claim under the children act as our 17 year old son lives there. However I’m not sure how much weight this carries as she has a son with her husband and will need to house him too and they can (and will) be sharing a room anyway.

Can you be more specific? I am unaware of anything in the Children's Act that allows anyone to request a financial order of this type.
