Yours is shaped like ours will be, with the handrail running to the ceiling, which could be an issue for you if you don't get a templated piece of glass cut for the piece up by the ceiling.

Thanks, I will put a new newel post in on the second step, nothing up to the ceiling.  I will make sure the new post is well braced, there is also a post half way up that I will clad.

I found this website today and have ordered a handrail and baserail kit which I think will make life a lot easier for our carpenter.
