Vaillant EcoTec Pro24 Combi Boiler

Hello,
The timer switch mechanism seems to have completely broken on my boiler. The switch that toggles between ON / *picture of clock / OFF has completely failed. The clock dial is fine. I saw a video showing you can replace the whole timer switch unit. On the video I saw, it didn't look immediately easy to just change the switch ON / *picture of clock / OFF without changing the whole unit.
Thank you.

Hi Robert. What 'state' is it in at the moment? Is it permanently 'on'? Ie, overriding the clock? If so, then the very best thing you can do, imo, is to replace your room stat with a Programmable Stat, ideal a 'Smart' one that'll also allow phone App control. If the phone App part doesn't appeal, then there are numerous Prog Stats that can be fitted, and these will control both your timings and temps. Are you familiar with what they do? If this makes sense/is of interest, then please post a photo of your existing room stat.On the other hand, if the switch is stuck on 'off', then you need a new one :-)1

Good suggestions. I'll get a picture of the current thermostat.1 -
A complete new mechanical Vaillant Timeswitch (150?) is £50-60.
I imagine that it is a spline or similar on the knob that has gone, knobs are a lot cheaper but I don't know how easy it is to disassemble the Timeswitch to swap the knob.2 -
Hmm, good possibility.
What does it 'feel' like, Robert, when you turn it? Does it still click in all three positions as before? And not turn any further than it should?1 -

If you grap the flat finger 'grip' gently with a pair of pliers, a bit of cloth in its jaws, can you try a straight out pull?
If it's the knob itself wot's broke, I'd expect it to pull off easily - unless it has a wider flange behind the control panel. Chances are, tho', it's designed to pull off.
If the switch is PCB- mounted, and good chance it is, then for a GasSafe this will almost certainly be a PCB replacement job, costing, ooh, a couple of £undred + labour? You might be able to ask a local TV repair out fit if they'd solder in a replacement, if the board is removed for them, but that would involve you sourcing a new switch, and paying a GS for the boilery part. Again, I dunno, £onehundredandfifty?
Or, fit a non-smart Prog Stat to your wall (~£50+) or a Smart one with App control to either the wall or the boiler - ~£150.
And put a note on the boiler "Switch inoperable - isolate at FSU".1 -
Well, I could not be more wrong
Seems the timeswitch comes on a plug-in panel which includes the on-off switch, and it's only around £38 for the lot (second-user).Power off at FSU, and instructions will almost certainly come with the part, or be easily available.Eg: 1 year warranty https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175514778960I'd still go for replacing your wall stat with a better system, a Prog Stat of some description that'll set the temps you want at the times you want them, and leave this control set to 'on'.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.1
