Wedding Event Cancellation

I appreciate your ideas about other venues but that is something personal to us and we will decide in due course how/venue an alternative venue or event will be arranged. Fact remains that we will lose the money for flight tickets unless Ryanair offers a goodwill gesture (highly unlikely). 10 tickets are to be cancelled.Thank you for the pragmatic idea of reading the T&C. I have checked it:“The occurrence of such an event may require us to cancel your booking of the Chapelat short notice. If this happens, any fee paid to the House of Lords will of course berefunded, but we will accept no liability for any other losses you may incur as a resultof the cancellation. We will, however, make every effort to rebook yourmarriage/blessing at the earliest, most convenient opportunity”:beer:0

Was the advanced payment detailed as non-refundable or such?
Seems odd for them not to say anything at all about what happens if the customer wishes to cancel, can you double check all the info you received?0 -

I don't know if that means the term about them keeping the deposit is void or whether the person booking can claim the same as they wish to, although "a few weeks back" might have likely been more than 6 months so I don't think they'd charge anything.
OP you'd have to cancel your flights and I think then try to claim whatever you can't get from the airline as damages. Technically the airline can't just keep the money if the plane is full and they can resell the seats but I think you'd have great difficulty getting them to agree to that.
Loss of enjoyment is another factor, it's certainly a unique venue.
If you want to try and claim something from the venue I'd recommend seeking professional advice on what is possible, I don't think you are going to get a definitive answer on here0 -
Even if you could claim for flights from the venue (which I’d say is extremely questionable in itself) I’d say it would be next to impossible to claim for flights that aren’t even for the OP.
If the OP did want to pursue this they need to be aware this is an extremely complicated, messy and niche case with no guaranteed outcome.
Ultimately it was an extremely poor decision not take out wedding insurance for such a wedding. That’s on the OP. Even then I’m not sure an insurance company would cover flights for other people.0 -
