How much heating oil do you use?

Your story sounds similar to mine.We ‘lost’ a lot of oil last month. We determined we had a leak in the pipe that is under the garden. There was no smell or other evidence of a leak. We were lucky we spotted the drop before it was completely empty. We turned off the boiler and the following day the level still dropped. We then turned off the tap on the tank itself and there was no further loss. However as your tank is already empty you don’t have that option. But a heating engineer can apply a vacuum to a pipe to check for a leak apparently. We are in Scotland and 1200 litres in winter would usually last 4-5 depending on the weather. I’d be surprised if you could use 500 litres in one month. Our tank has a lock on it.Although ultimately we didn’t go down that route, loss of central heating oil MAY be covered by your house insurance.0

Loss of the oil is just half the equation.
The environmental soil clean-up could cost a lot more.....0 -
