Google Play App Refund. Is it possible?

Hello there I downloaded and cancelled an app on the same day in November as it was not fit for purpose (too many ads and clunky).
I have just realised now that it has taken 7 payments of £14.99 since December.
I have cancelled this on my app and with my bank to stop future payments and tried to get a refund.
Bank is saying it's a Google issue.
Google are saying it's an app developer issue and refuse a refund.
I haven't contacted the app developer yet as many say it's pointless as they will just refer back to Google as they don't have the payment details to refund anyway, so it's futile.
Is there any way I can resolve this issue or have I just got to accept now that I have lost £104?
Gutted as of course £104 is a lot of money and I cancelled the app my end, the app was useless anyway and I never used it.
SIGH
Any advice much appreciated, thank you.

You should have contacted the developer/raised a refund request within 48hrs:You're probably well past any obligatory window by now, so its up to the developer now. Also I'd say since its took you three months to notice, perhaps you should monitor your bank account more closely. For future reference, many apps are free and offer a paid option for better/enhanced/premium options, so if the basic app didn't do what you want, then there's no point throwing money at that app. Suggest seeking out free alternatives and if you can put up with adverts, so much the better.1
