My dad is the registered keeper - I presume worth mentioning briefly in point 2?
If the claim is addressed to you, then the only reason that can have happened is if Dad named you as the driver early doors, or if you appealed ages ago as the driver and handed over your data.

Did you?  If so, say so in the defence because it shows you didn't ignore it.

I think the defence (which must be signed & written by the named Defendant on the claim form - is that you or Dad?) should make more of the fact it was dark on arrival and the sign was unlit and not seen.

Just re-draft paragraphs 3 and add a paragraph 4 to your draft, to cover the fact that you responded and appealed in 2018 but (blah blah...your own words).

Obviously the rest of the template stays and just gets re-numbered below the added 4.

Nope. No photos go with a defence. If they did, the Template Defence thread would tell you.

You need to re-read the finer detail of WHAT HAPPENS WHEN, as explained thoroughly in the second post of the NEWBIES thread that KeithP linked for you.

There is a series of paperwork stages that you must be ready for.  Defence is not your only job.

Two quick questions too. Should I split point 4 up? All of it relates to the signage (or lack thereof), but there are several different strands to it. I'm aware the paragraph is getting quite long!
If you are concerned about the length of point 4#, it is always best to keep a defence short and punchy and then you go to town with the witness statement at which point, as @Coupon-mad writes, you submit your photographs.  So long as you introduce, in the defence, the fact that there were no signs, you can tell the story in the WS.

Have a read of the following thread to give you the encouragement to crack on with this and not waver under any pressure exerted by DCB Legal. You push them towards the discontinuation precipice by complying with all the required court processes, and like lemmings ........ over they should go!

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6377263/dcb-legal-record-of-private-parking-court-claim-discontinuations/p1

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
