What is the Issue Date on your County Court Claim Form?

Have you filed an Acknowledgment of Service?
If so, upon what date did you do so?
Your MCOL Claim History will have the definitive answer to that.

    Who is the Claimant?
Are they represented by solicitors? Is so, who?

Yes it is worth defending. Even if they won they'd only get c£200 from a decision at a hearing before most Judges. It's a no-brainer!

And have you missed that DCBLegal / UKPC almost always discontinue claims before a hearing?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi Keith. The issue date is 31 January. I haven't done anything yet, but if I were to file an Acknowledgment of Service, what would be the optimum day to do it?

With a Claim Issue Date of 31st January, you have until Monday 20th February to file an Acknowledgment of Service but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.
To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.

Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 6th March 2023 to file your Defence.
That's four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the Acknowledgment of Service guidance.
Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

Hi Keith. The issue date is 31 January. I haven't done anything yet, but if I were to file an Acknowledgment of Service, what would be the optimum day to do it?

As mentioned above, it's UK Parking Control and DCB Legal.

Yes it is worth defending. Even if they won they'd only get c£200 from a decision at a hearing before most Judges. It's a no-brainer!

Thanks for this. I hadn't heard that most of these claims are discontinued.

I think the main concern now is my above question around potential risks and marks against me - what negative outcomes could there be if I choose to defend the claim?
Nothing at all.  This is why we do this every day!  We wouldn't risk people's credit rating.

    It is a no-brainer.

As long as you follow our advice and file the later paperwork in time.  Zero risk, even if you managed to lose at a hearing.  No CCJ remains (at all, not even a mark) because you'd obviously just pay the £200-odd straight away.

Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle, if so adjust you point 2 to say so.  If not, is it a leased car or belonging to someone else?

My dad is the registered keeper...
So who is the Claim Form addressed to?

I.e. who is the Defendant named on the Claim Form? You or your father?

Which is a rather major issue - answer required
