like spoonie says. the cap is going up from april but its not going away (the bit thats going away is the £400/£66 that was just for 6 months of winter).Upzeecreek said:
Well the fix was 51p/ kWh but my latest bill is showing 66.55p/ kWh. I'm presuming I won't get any money towards that from April. So would I not be better off asking to go back on the fix from April ?Mstty said:
Why do you think it will be more is 43p kWh more than your fix rate?Upzeecreek said:
Sorry, got the terminology rather muddled.Scot_39 said:Upzeecreek said:Last Sept 22, I moved onto a fix ( Next online v18) with a kWh price of 51.762. 1st Oct, Eon next decided that they would move me onto Next flex. The savings were minimal but I went along with it.
Now I'm looking at a kWh price of 66.55 and with the EPG ending in April ,I'm going to be considerably worse off.
Has anyone asked to move back to their fixed tarrif with this in mind? I know it was an option when they first changed the tarrif, but wondering if anyone has recently changed back to their original fixed tarrif? The EPG isn't ending in April - unless I have missed the news.It is increasing from £2500 to £3000 - until April 2024.Only the EBSS - the £400 / £66/67 pm grant is ending.
I guess the gist if what I've posted still stands as the EPG from April will be more than I would be paying had I remained on my fix.
so as things stand now a rate of 66p would be reduced by 17p (the max discount for tarrifs above the cap) to 49p.
one thing i'm not sure about reading the thread. is the 66p your current (pre discount) rate or is it your rate from april that your being told about now? or is it coming from somewhere else/are you looking at new fix prices?
because when the cap goes from £2500 to £3000 (as an average) then it might be that with the max discount you would be better on your old 51p fix... not very likely as (like mstty said up thread) we're expecting the cap to be somewhere at about mid-40p
but we cant work that out for sure until we know the new unit rates (another week or 2 i think) and we know what rate of discount the government are going to apply.
unless that info has been published and ive missed it. its been a busy few weeks so ive not been keeping up with whats been announced.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
