Sofa bed won't fit through door

Recently had a garage conversion and wanted to put existing sofa bed in there rather than buy new. Didn't realise but the door isn't a full size door and there is no way it will fit. Is there a service where someone who knows what they are doing can take it apart and rebuild it in situ? It seems such a waste to get rid. It's pretty solid m&s sofa bed. Anyone had experience with this?

It's more common for people to take out the window.

I assume that's not easy either. Would need window fitters?

Will it not pass through on its side after being opened into a bed?
But, yes, they usually have the mechanisms bolted together in a fairly logical manner, tho' you'd need to be wary if they have tension springs in them. Most likely you should be able to unbolt/screw a complete upholstered section - the backrest, for example.
Who to do? Dunno - a local handyperson. You know the make of the sofa (ah - M&S)? Ask the manufacturers how to do this.

what kind of sofa bed is it? we always unbolt the mattress slide thing from underneath then take the now very light sofa frame which is easier to manoeuvre through the door either on its end sort of diagonally or lengthways if the door frame is wide enough.

That's a good idea, might contact M&S. The frame is quite bulky and the door small. Scared of ruining the mechanics of it. Obviously we got it in place through normal size doors. Would rather pay someone to do it. Husband and I not really able to do it ourselves. It's sort of spring loaded. It's been a very good sofa bed. Maybe look at taking the backrest off.

Photo? In case folks have other ideas? I'd avoid dismantling it if not actually necessary.
Any neighbs or family who could help manoeuvre it if it can be folded out enough to get through?
Just how narrow is this doorway?!

Doorway is 70cm(after taking door off) wide and 193 high. Settee under covers atm. But roughly 146cm long x 73cm high x 83 cm front to back. And heavy because of mechanics of the bed. Is it doable?
  • Have you tried it on it's end (by that I mean the longest side going through the 193 high doorway) only ask because we had the same issue with a big sofa and as soon as we did that it was a breeze

Saw it in half and weld it back together once inside.
