Why does Barclaycard does not support google pay?

I use the free Curve card linked to Barclaycard in Google Pay.  Works just fine. 

(Curve + Barclaycard also earns me Avios and no forex fees when abroad.)

You also have limited chargeback and zero S75 cover due to that indirect arrangement.
Curve is also currently loss making as an operation so could cease functioning at any time.

I was hoping Barclaycard would follow the debit cards to Google pay. But this suggests the only option from July 2023 is to use the physical plastic card?

I have no doubt it's coming, just perhaps not in time for them to pull the plug on their own nightmarish implementation.

The page has been updated again, this week, and all reference to the contactless mobile function being withdrawn on 30 June 2023 has been removed.  Fingers crossed they've done this because Barclaycard on Google Pay is nearly over the line.....

Having been a Barclays customer in the past, I have to agree with StrictGold5208, above. My current bank is not strange like them.

"Last updated on 26th April", and it says "The Contactless Mobile payment service will close on 30th June 2023", and that you have to use your plastic card for future payments.

This thread is the first I've heard of this - mind you for the last 12 months or so, my default contactless app has been Google Pay+Chase debit card, and any contactless credit card action with Barclaycard has been with the card.

Yes, this is what I take away from the discontinuation of the Barclaycard App payment option.

It now gives me the option to add my Barclaycard in Google Pay, sadly it errors out during the process.

Previously it used to say it's not supported.
