Poor Voice Call Quality With Mobile?
Comments

Just be aware if you do go to 02 on pay as you go,you will not get wifi calling or volte. Dont know about vodafone. Never used themSJMALBA said:Tried EE's coverage checker for 4G with the Nokia 105 4G and it says I won't get coverage; tried my existing Nokia 3510i and... no coverage for 2G. As mentioned, it seemed as though I was getting a good signal, but it looks like RWG may not work out for me for calls?
Presumably, getting a 4G phone, such as the Nokia 105 4G, would be a good idea for best voice call quality, even if I eventually have to switch to an O2 or Vodafone based SIM (both of which show good indoor and outdoor coverage in my area)?1 -

Thanks. Yes, I noticed some mention, while searching, about VoLTE not being on PAYG, but the info. seemed some time out of date? More complications!
Clearly, more research required...0 -
I think the only true payg, where you only top if you want to which offers 5g,volte and wifi calling is three.1

I think i mentioned 1Pmobile which uses the EE network and is PAYG definitely gives wifi calling and VOLTE which is why I chose them.
Their implementation of wifi calling seems to work properly for all SMS messages as well. There are known issues with O2 SMS via wifi not working with all message sources.1 -
No 5G in this part of the world AFAIK, and Three seems to be a non-starter in this area in general, according to mobile coverage checkers.alanjones60 said:I think the only true payg, where you only top if you want to which offers 5g,volte and wifi calling is three.
EDIT: Out of curiosity, put Samsung Galaxy A23 5G in their checker and Three's coverage now says 5G good outdoors/variable indoors, and 4G great outdoors/good indoors?!
Why would the Nokia 105 4G show no coverage for 4G from Three?
Even modern phones have differences between what they will/won't offer, from the same network??0 -
Problem with 1pmobile is the £10 topup every 120 days is a bit much for very light users, and their plans are nothing special for medium to heavy users.0

Yes, there are different bands for 4G . Whether you can access that band depends both on the handset supporting it and the service provider allowing access to it (for example they may choose to restrict access to certain bands to pay monthly customers)SJMALBA said:

Thanks - this is becoming more and more complicated by the second...!PHK said:

You could order a free sim from o2 and arrange the person you have been calling to call you an hour later, giving you time to swap sims.
You could also try vodafone or asdamobile to check their signal.0 -
This is why I recommended a good quality mid-range phone or a refurbished recent ‘flagship’. As these will cover all the bands used in the UK and so you’ll only need to be concerned about the service from whichever provider.SJMALBA said:
